9V vs. 12V for LED

Q:
I have a 12v LED garden display totalling 10 watts. The 120v~12v transformer [waterproof] is only putting out 9.1v vs the rated 12 volts. The LEDs work but two questions: is 9v going to shorten the LED life and secondly would I get any significant increase in lumens/light output if I put in a new 12v transformer?

A:
Your 9V supply shouldn't damage your LEDs. A supply with the full rated voltage, however, will make them give off more lght.
