Nickel-chrome in Metal Detector

Please can you tell me if a nickel chrome alloy would be picked up by a metal detector? A piece of metal was found in a sweet and I sent it back to the company. They say that as it was not picked up by their metal detectors they have no idea how it came from one of their sweets. I know it did but obviously have no way of proving it. Can you confirm if it could have actually passed unnoticed by a metal detector. It was squashed inside the sweet. I don't want to pursue it any further but just curious.

A nickel-chrome alloy will conduct electricity, so it should be picked up by a standard metal detector. Perhaps it was too small for their detector's sensitivity?
