The level of water remains same when we add some crystals of salt in it.why so ?

Adding salt (NaCl) to water actually does increase the volume a little bit, although by less than the volume of the added salt. The Na+ and Cl- ions fit nicely in the water, not taking up much room. There are even some salts (e.g. MgSO4) which reduce  the volume of the liquid, because of the way that their ions fit with the water molecules.
