The strongest shape for withstanding water pressure is a sphere. This is because water pushes the same amount on every side of an object. A sphere is an object that has the same shape on every ’side’, so there are no weak points. So a window in a submarine would be shaped like a sphere, or a section of one. (Unless the submarine was never going to go very deep, in which case the windows wouldn’t need to be as strong.)
