I’m not quite sure what you mean by this question, but I’ll give it my best shot. In the Physics Van, we use what we call ’demo writeups’ for all the experiments we do. These are just sheets with descriptions of how to do the experiments. The students who watch our presentations don’t have to do any sort of lab write-up at all.
In college (at U of I), though, students definitely do have to do write-ups for the labs they do in their classes. Different classes require different types of write-ups, but in most cases they have a lot more detail and take a lot more work than lab write-ups in junior high or high school do.
