Q:
To check a carpenters bubble level accuracy, can you float the level on a uniform thickness board in a tub of calm water?

Follow-Up #1: How to check a level

Q:
Actually that is not a good way to check a level. Easier to put that level on the ground so that it is sort of level. Set the level on the board and note the location of the bubble -let's say it's off a full bubble to the right - turn the level around end-for-end and check the bubble again. An accurate level will read the same in both cases - it will again read a full bubble to the right.

That sounds like a good system.
