What affect will a magnet on or around an ac power cord have on the flow of electricity.

A:
Very little. In a magnetic field from a strong permanent magnet, the resistance of ordinary copper wires changes, but not enough to make any practical difference. There’s also a small voltage generated sideways in the wire (the Hall voltage) but again in this case it would have no practical significance.
