Can you Convert the Force of Gravity Into Useable Energy?

Hi, if (and its a big 'If') a device was created that could convert the force of gravity into a useable energy, would over time the strength of gravity reduce, if here on earth this energy say over time replaced fossil fuels?? Many thanks in anticipation

Sure.  A weight falling from a height can be used to generate useful energy.   Unfortunately due to unavoidable losses such as friction it takes more energy to lift the weight than you get out so there will be a net loss.

You could say that hydroelectric power plants do this. What lifts the water back up again, however, is solar heating, so really this is a way to use solar energy.
