Tokomak for Energy Storage?

Q:
This is something I have always being curious about. Can the tokomaks used in fusion experiments be used for long term thermal energy storage?

A:

No, the tokomaks use a huge amount of energy. The hope is that someday they will allow controlled fusion that will generate even more energy than they use. Without the fusion, they'd just be a waste.

People do talk about another magnetic energy storage possibility, using cold superconducting magnets. In fact, checking Wikipedia indicates that a few of these systems are already in use:.
