Can Stars Exist Independently of Galaxies ?

Sure, why not. On the other hand they are most likely to show up within galaxies because that is where the material to form stars is most likely to be found. It is possible that a star formed within a galaxy can be ejected out of it due to random gravitational forces but is rather unlikely.
