A:
Dear Koolkat,
If you are going to play with the same tennis balls for a year, it doesn\'t make a darn bit of difference whether they are expensive or cheap. Tennis balls loose their bounce due to two effects: internal air pressure and age. When the balls are manufactured they are internally pressurized. When you open a can of new balls you can hear the whoosh of the air escaping from the can. Over time the balls will slowly leak out the extra pressure and the bounce will deteriorate. The other effect is age. The resiliency and bouncy-ness of the ball just wears out due to repeated stress.
For my own use, I open a new can every two weeks. My wife is fussy, she wants a new can every week (but I don\'t believe her).
