Q:
Hi I would like to clear something up with someone at work.
I lift a 100lb barbell over my head on earth an that I use x joules of energy in my muscles to do so.
If I took that same barbell to the moon and lifted it over my head would I use x or less than x joules of energy?

A:
Less.  The force of gravity on the moon is less than that of earth. The amount of energy
required is directly proportional to the force of gravity times the distance lifted.
