If H+H is transmuted to He, and H only has a proton and an electron, where do the neutrons come from that are prepresent in He? Thank you for your help! Lance

Dear Lance,

The answer is no for the reason you mentioned.   You need two additional neutrons.  A two proton system is not stable.  You need the extra binding energy provided by the two neutrons.
