The only stable elementary particles are protons, electrons, neutrinos and photons. All other baryons and mesons will eventually decay into a combination of these three. For example a neutron will decay into a proton, electron, and neutrino. A pi-meson will decay into a muon or electron plus the appropriate neutrino.
