How does tinted glass work?

A:
You can either add some coloring to the glass or you can attach a special film to the pane surface.
The idea is that the film is rather transparent to ordinary optical light wavelengths but the heating or infrared wavelengths are absorbed and remitted without heating the interior.  Take a look at the Wiki article:
