What's in Pi?

Q:
Since Pi has an infinite number of decimals, is it possible that somewhere down those decimals is encoded the nature of dark energy, the winning numbers of the next powerball draw with the name of the winner(s) and a quintillion 1s that are all following each other? I find it very hard to believe that but infinity means that every outcome and possibility has to be present.

A:
It is believed but, I think, not yet proven that the decimal expansion of pi contains every possible finite sequence, including the ones you mention. (The verbal ones would have to be converted to numerics, e.g. as ASCII code.) That doesn't follow from the simple infinity by itself, since 1/3 has infinite decimal and binary expressions.
