Microwave Magnets

Q:
I'm living in a house in which the owner stuck four semi-strong magnets to the side of the microwave to attach a decorative panel (for cosmetic reasons). Could the magnets on the side of the microwave be dangerous for humans? I sleep in the room above the kitchen where this microwave exists, and I'm very worried that I will be harmed.

A:
No, the magnets pose no danger at all. The microwave radiation won't get through the metal case to the magnets. Even if it did, the danger would come from direct microwave exposure, unrelated to the magnets. The magnets themselves wouldn't do anything but heat up a little.
