Absorbing Sunlight

Q:
I am doing a science fair project on how colors absorb the sun. I"ve been reading some responses to questions like mine, but I dont get it all. In a simple way, can you explain to me everything about light frequencies and wavelengths and why darker colors absorb more sunlight? That would help a bunch. Thanks.

A:
A color looks dark because not much light is coming off of it. That means its absorbing most of the light hitting it. The would be true for sunlight as much as for any other light.
