What is the relationship between a wave length of light absorbed or released by an atom and the transfer of a discreet amount of energy?

The energy of a photon is given by E = hf where h is Plank's constant and f is the frequency of the photon.   Since the frequency is related to the wavelength  by  lambda =  c/f where c is the speed of light  then   lambda =  hc/E.
