Radiation From Fire

Q:
I have heard long before that we experience more heat around the fire than above it because of radiations. So does radiation travells upwards from the fire?

The radiation includes both the light you see and infrared light that you feel as warmth. Both go all directions, as you can see. What travels upward is the warm gas from the fire.
