Q:
Why a maglev train doesn't attract the metals like keys or phones carried by the passengers in it??

The magnetic fields are arranged to be large near the rails but fall off quickly farther away. You can see how that would work if you have a horseshoe magnet. The field in the gap is large but it gets very weak away from the gap.
