We almost always use pictures in which it can't. Interestingly, the underlying mathematical description of how things change (quantum field theory) looks like it could run either forward or backward. So there are some interpretations of quantum mechanics which do have backward causation. Perhaps some day in the future you'll get to work on this. I'm pretty sure you didn't get much chance to do that in the past, which seems unlikely to change. Mike W.
