How do you make gaseus nitrogen turn into solid nitrogen without going through the liquid state?

A:
You could cool it at very low pressure. At low enough pressure the gas converts directly to solid. I believe, based on a quick Google search, that the necessary pressure is below 12.5 kPa. That’s about 1/8 of atmospheric pressure. At 12.5 kPa the freezing temperature is 63.18 K.
