Q:
Is the speed of light a constant throughout the universe? I keep hearing stories how UFO’s travel faster than the speed of light, but I would think that, if there were aliens out there, even they would be restricted by the speed of light.

A:
The entire structure of modern physics would unravel if anything resembling ordinary matter were found to travel faster than the speed of light. Physics has made many predictions of extraordinary accuracy relying on theories which would fall apart in that case. On the other hand, the structure of modern psychology would not be much disturbed if it were discovered that sometimes people imagine things.
