I have recently read several of Steven Hawkins books in which he emphasises the theory that matter increases mass as it is accelerated toward the speed of light. Has this increase of mass been confirmed by the operation of the Hadron accelerator?? Norm

Yes, this increase in inertial mass is confirmed repeatedly by all sorts of accelerators. Even high-powered electron microscopes have to take it into account to focus properly.
