Yes. Friction a force that makes the objects move together or at least have more nearly the same velocity.
Sometimes friction makes things come to rest, like when you slide an eraser across a desk. The friction between the eraser and the desk makes the eraser come to rest on the desk. Othertimes, friction speeds things up. When you pick up the eraser to slide it, the friction with your hand makes the eraser move. When a stick falls in a stream, friction with the flowing water makes the stick move too.
