Melting ice Cubes

would an ice cube melt faster in the sun or in the closet/

Great question!   It sounds like this would be a good experiment you could try.  Get two bowls, put an ice cube in each bowl and put one in the sun and one in the closet.  Let us know what you find.   
p.s. It may depend on what the temperatures are inside and outside your house.
