Bow Fishing With Halogen Lamps

I want to hook up some helogen lights (the yellow square ones with the little stands) on a boat to go bow fishing at night. Everybody that does this uses a generator. I don't want to have all the noise of the expence of buying one. Can I some how I can hook them up to a marine battery?

If your lights are 120 Volt AC you can buy a DC to AC converter that will do the trick. You should do a little arithmetic concerning the number of Amp-hours your batteries have and how many Watts you want to light up to see how long your battery will last.  For example a 100 Amp-hour battery can light up a 200 Watt bulb for about 4 to 5 hours depending on the efficiency of the converter

Is there a special reason to use the halogens? You can get LED lights, designed for 12V dc supplies, that give something like 8 times the efficiency of the halogens. That might solve the battery lifetime problem. Mike W.
