General Description:
The Physics Factory brings an exciting science show to schools and other children’s programs. Our vehicle is itself a demo; a 1984 GMC-Bluebird converted to run on used fast-food frying oil. A typical visit consists partly of demonstrations performed by Physics Factory personnel before an audience of students, and partly of children exploring a variety of hands-on equipment stations in an unstructured way; exactly what we do depends on the size of the group and the setting. We involve high school students in our program, building demonstrations and other equipment under the mentorship of college students and more senior staff; these students receive academic credit for their participation. The older students come to events and actively interact with the younger children as they explore the equipment.
