General Description:
Environmental education is at the core of what we do at the Hitchcock Center for the Enviornment. Participants in our outreach programs include children, adults and families. Our objectives are: 1) To promote the sustainability of the planet; 2) To inspire wonder, curiosity, and openness to the natural world; 3) To cultivate a respect for all living things and a stonger desire to protect our environment; and 4) To lead to positive change through education and example. Our most common classroom presentations are about Life of a Pond, Incredible Insects, Animals in Winter, Habitat Studies, Small Animals in the Classroom, and Salmon Survival. All of our programs are designed to invite participants to explore by actively engaging them in the learning process.
