Program Title:
The Physics Van
University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign Urbana, IL, United States
Geographical Area:
The Physics Van travels to schools within 1 hour driving distance from Urbana, IL.
General Description:
The Physics Van is a traveling science show for kids! By performing and explaining exciting physics demonstrations, we show our audiences that science is fun and worthwhile for people who wonder about why the world acts the way it does. We challenge kids' mental picture of what kind of people scientists are. We show them that as long as you want to learn and have fun, there's a world of physics waiting to be discovered.

Shows are roughly 1 hour long and are suitable for large audiences. The show consists of roughly 15 demonstrations on 4 topics: States of Matter, Air, Newton's Laws, and Electricity. Hands-on programs are available for smaller groups, such as scout troops or after-school programs.
Area of Science:
Physics / General Science
Target Grade Levels:
Target Group Size:
50-500 kids for stage show (i.e. whole school)

20-50 kids for hands-on programs (i.e. scout troops, etc.)

We're sorry, we do not do individual classroom visits - but we love whole school assemblies!
