The end products of burning depend on the combustible material. For burning in air there is always oxygen in the by-products. For example wood, which is for the most part carbon, you get a lot of carbon dioxide, CO2. From fuels derived from oil, which contain carbon and hydrogen, you get a mixture of carbon dioxide and water, H2O.
