By "research" I guess you mean looking up information, as opposed to original research. Wikipedia isn't bad.We often recommend articles there, in the hope that they won't change too much for the worse.

I've made modifications to some one or two dozen Wikipedia articles, mostly fixing mistakes. In one case I added a mistake, but somebody else quickly fixed it. So overall it's useful, but not 100% reliable. I'd say our site is more reliable, but of course far less comprehensive and usually much less technical. Most Q&A sites on the web seem less reliable than Wikipedia, sometimes much less reliable.
