Weight on Support Legs

Most recent answer: 07/13/2011

Q:
If I have an object weighing 3000#, with one end fixed at x inches above the ground and want to lift the other end to a level position, what is the portion of the weight that each corner of the lifted end is bearing? Also once the entire object is level, what is the portion of weight each leg is holding? Thank you

A:
It seems to me that if your 4 support legs are all the same and everything is level then the force on each leg is simply 3000/4 = 750 pounds.

You don't say how out of level the object is initially, i.e. the ratio of x inches to the spacing between legs. That's needed to answer the first part of your question., even if you assume everything is symmetrical.  Mike W.
