How can we measure how much volume of air we inhale per stroke?

A:
Get a flexible plastic tube.  Fill up a small glass or cylinder with  water and carefully turn it upside down in a larger bowl of water.  Take a normal breath of air and blow it through the tube into the cylinder.  The volume of air in the cylinder is what you want.
