Long or Short Towel Racks?

My husband and I have been disagreeing on the weight distribution of towel racks. Would a shorter hold more or less weight than a longer one?

It probably doesn't make much difference.    From a physics point of view, there's no particular advantage one way or the other. In my house the main cause of towel rack failure is that the screws holding it into the wall pull out.
