Do sunflowers have nectar?
Tampines North Primary School, SIngapore
Yes! Sunflowers are actually a lot like every other sort of flower -
they make nectar and pollen and bees can use them to make honey! The
reason that sunflowers look so much different from other flowers is
because the 'head' of the sunflower is actually made up of as many as
4,000 little flowers all clustered together. (Each one will make a seed
that will be good to eat once the plant dies.) For some really good
pictures and everything you ever wanted to know about sunflowers, check
