The answer to your question is probably simpler than you think.
Miracle-Gro and other similar fertilizers are simply combinations of
the various chemicals that plants need to grow, particularly those that
most peoples' backyards don't have enough of. To find out exactly which
vitamins and minerals these are, just read the label on the bottle. The
reason that these liquid fertilizer can work such 'miracles' is that
they are water soluble. Plants absorb all of their nutrients together
with water through their roots. If the nutrients are already dissolved
in water, they can be taken up by the plants much more quickly.
