Marine biology is basically the study of marine
animals. The important thing here is that these are "marine" only.
Marine animals are animals that live in saltwater. The study of animals
that live in freshwater is rather unsurprisingly called "freshwater
biology." Many people thing that marine biology is more interesting,
though, because it includes animals like dolphins and whales.
Unfortunately, it would take me a /very/ long time to go into all the
details of marine biology. And since I'm not quite sure what sort of
information you're looking for, I can't help you very much there.
But there are /lots/ of websites out there dedicated entirely to marine biology. Try going to
Google and searching for "marine biology". Also, check out the answer to our question,
"I want to be a marine biologist.".
This answer includes lots of great links, too. Although they do focus
on how to become a marine biologist, they have lots of general
information, too.
If you can't find what you need there, your
local library should have some good childrens books that give general
overviews of the subject, too.
