An arhtropod is a type of invertebrate animal (like insects, spiders, and crustaceans). According to
Webster's Dictionary,
arthropods have a "segmented body and jointed appendages, a usually
chitinous exoskeleton molted at intervals, and a dorsal anterior brain
connected to a ventral chain of ganglia", but you don't have to
remember all that.
Some people keep arthropods as pets - for example, tarantulas,
hissing cockroaches, scorpions, or giant milipedes. For information on
that, check out
The Pet Arthropod Page.
