Gravity is an attractive force between two bodies.  The strength of the force is proportional to the product of the two masses of the bodies and inversely proportional to the square of the distance between the two bodies.  The mass of the earth attracts you and, likewise, you attract the earth.   Isaac Newton figured it out in 1687.  Gravitational forces keep the moon circling the earth and the earth circling the sun.
