Losing Water

Q:
Hello & Hope that all is well with you. I am in need of some assistance (before I loose the last vestiges of my sanity). I reside in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. I have a pond which measures approximately 17 feet long by 5 feet wide by approximately 21 inches depth at the most. The system does have a two stage waterfall where each level drops approximately 1 foot before cascading into the pond itself. I seem to be loosing just under a half an inch of water per day. The temperature has been anywhere between 20 to 32 degress Celcious. Is this normal??? Please help. Thanx very much for both your time and kind collaboration. In anticipation of your reply, Best Regards.

There are a lot of factors that go into the rate of evaporation, so it’s hard to give a definite answer. But 1/2 inch per day doesn’t sound unreasonable, given that you’ve had some very hot weather and that the system includes two waterfalls, which will promote evaporation.
