A:
Jet fuel is mostly kerosene (a complex mix of hydrocarbons which are
products of the oil refining process). Some jet fuels have additives to
lower the temperature at which they get gummy and very viscous (they
don’t really have a well defined freezing point like water, but they do
get sticky and can solidify in fuel pipes if they are cold enough).
Some have anticorrosion additives too.
Fuel tanks on airplanes are typically located in the wings, but they could be anywhere.
