The only things you need to build a battery like this beside the fruit/vegetable itself is a bit of zinc, a bit of copper, and some wires. You should NOT be using any types of extra acids, since there’s enough acid in the fruits themselves. To learn about the role of the natural fruit acids (i.e. the natural acids in a lemon) in making a battery like this work, check out this answer.
