Dripping Evaporating Gasoline

we overfilled the gas tank of our truck, it dripped overnight - the temperature stayed above 45f and yet there was a cone of hard ice where it had dripped. can you explain?

Evaporating gas cools things down, just like evaporating water. Still, I’m amaxed that the effect was as large as you report.
