What is work?
The technical definition of work done by a force when it pushes on an
object that moves is the magnitude of the force multiplied by the
distance moved multiplied by the cosine of the angle between the
direction of the force and the direction of the movement. If the object
is moving in the same direction that the force is pushing this simply
becomes Work=force x distance.
In general, work will change the amount of energy something has (either potential or kinetic energy).
