Follow-Up #1: Are distant particles really distant?

That's a very deep question and beyond my ability to answer. Here's some thoughts.
If there were any passageway through spacetime closely connecting the two particles that seem distant to us, it would have to be a very special sort of connection. The reason is that no classical signal can travel through it. Classical signals can only travel at the speed of light or slower as seen in our usual spacetime. There are, however, some very interesting speculations by Lenny Susskind and collaborators along the lines you suggest. Here's a link: . I hope you understand it better than I do.
