Wow...good one!

The best way to explain what Physics "is" is probably to tell you what people who study physics do. Physicists are curious about how the world works, and try to figure out the simplest explanations for stuff. Questions like "How hot is the sun", "How much does an electron weigh", "What causes ocean tides", and "Why is the sky blue" are all answered by studying physics.

Another answer would be to say that physics is just the special branch of science dealing with how stuff works.
