Need to check my math question before I ask the students.
If I have an object w/a weight of 7N and a volume of 900ml,which displaces only 500ml of water, will the object sink, float or buoy up?

This doesn't sound right. You say the weight is 7N, which is the same as the weight of about 700ml of water. Yet you say the object displaces 500 ml of water. The displacement in real life matches the weight.
