What is the density of a block of ice 12x12x20 inches?
- Shawn (age 13)
Density is the weight per unit volume. It does not depend on the volume per se. Water has a density of 1 gram per cubic centimeter or 64 lb per cubic foot, depending on your favorite units. Ice is a bit less dense, it floats, only 0.916 times the density of water.
In your case the volume is 1.75 cubic feet. I'll let you do the arithmetic.
